Porcelain Dental Veneers in Frankston & Patterson Lakes

Dental veneers are thin layers of tooth coloured material that are placed over natural teeth in order to improve their appearance. V Care Dental is proud to offer porcelain dental veneers in our Frankston and Patterson Lakes dental clinics.

Common uses for porcelain dental veneers include:

  • Masking the appearance of stained teeth
  • Filling in spaces between teeth
  • Straightening teeth that are misaligned
  • Covering damaged or broken teeth that have been affected by trauma or decay

The Fitting Process

Fitting porcelain veneers is a process that’s performed over two appointments.

On your first visit, your dentist will give a local anaesthetic to numb the tooth before removing a small amount of enamel from its surface in order to prepare it for a veneer. Impressions of your teeth will also be made to assist in the creation of each veneer – these impressions are sent off to the laboratory, where a dental technician will handcraft your porcelain veneers in Melbourne to suit your teeth. In most cases, temporary veneers are fitted to the teeth and will remain on until your custom veneers are ready (approximately two to three weeks).

In the second appointment, the temporary veneers are removed and your new veneers will be fitted. This is done carefully by your dentist to ensure you’re happy with their appearance. The veneers will then be permanently cemented to your teeth, resulting in a beautiful smile.

How to Look After Your Veneers

While porcelain dental veneers can last a long time before they need replacing, it’s important to take good care of them. It’s recommended that you brush and floss your teeth twice a day and have a dental check-up twice a year. You will also need to be mindful that bad habits such as biting pens and opening bottles with your teeth can damage your veneers.
